Photoshoot

Ava is my little cuteness. We just got her pictures today from a photo shoot we did with her a few weeks ago, and they turned out so cute! We haven't gotten her pictures professionally taken since she was 9 months old, so we were really excited to get them done. We had Brooke Jackson (oliverminiej.blogspot.com) take the pictures, and she did such a great job. We took them outside at Gardner's Village, which was fun for Ava because she pretty much got to explore the whole time and Brooke just captured her in her element. I know I posted million pics, but I really couldn't decide! I have such a beautiful daughter... (yes, I am feeling like a proud parent right now). I love her big eyes, and her expressive eyebrows. She is the sweetest little girl, and we love her so much.

Garden

We get to have a garden! Last Sunday we noticed in our ward bulletin that there were community garden plots available for our townhome complex, and Cody and I about passed out with excitement. Having worked at my dad's nursery for so long, the love of plants and gardening has just been seeping into us. We are so anxious to have our own yard and garden. Every spring we load our front and back patios with planted pots, and they make us so happy all summer. But this year we actually get to have our very own garden, and we couldn't be more excited! Possibly on the verge of obsessive... We check on it like twice a day. The other night we got home around midnight, and were worried about our new plants drying out because we hadn't been home to check them all day. So Cody went out there at 12:30 in the morning to water them - just in case. It has been so much fun for us. Ava loves being out digging in the dirt too. I had to buy her her own set of kids tools, so she would stop trying to use the huge shovels. We've planted all kids of things... tomatoes, bell peppers, jalapeƱos, onions, squash, zucchini, strawberries, cantaloupe, beans, radishes, carrots, basil, chives, parsley, oregano, rosemary, Chinese lanterns, gourds, bulbs,... and lots of flowers - I couldn't help myself. This is our first garden ever, so we'll see if we can really get anything to grow - especially all the seeds! The analogy of faith being compared to a seed means more to me now...we're doubtful about our seeds actually growing. This will be a learning experience. So here are a few pictures of our first garden. We are not completely done planting yet & still need to mulch the top, but it's coming along great. You will probably be seeing plenty of garden posts on our blog coming up this summer...

Ava's Buddy

Today I took Ava over to play with our next door neighbor, Maddie! The two of them have become really good friends over the last month. It's cute because they get along so well for toddlers... They actually share toys and love to give each other hugs :) Emily and I walked upstairs to check on them, and found them squished in this little toy car that rocks back and forth, just having a blast. They are so funny together. I'm excited that Ava finally has a friend her age that lives so close to us!

(P.S. Thanks for the pictures Emily :)
Here they are rockin' out in the car!

A Unique Walking Experience

I know graduation was a week ago, but I had to post Cody's walking experience. The microphone went out before they could call his name, so he had to just stand there with the dean in front of everyone for like 1 1/2 minutes! That would totally happen to Cody, and he totally handled it in Cody-style. So take a look at this video clip - it's pretty funny.
